While its name conjures images of a 30-strong collective playing everything and the kitchen sink, Montoyan Artisan Connection is actually the solo lysergic eminations of Chicagoan Lance Barresi, a backroom psych traveller of the highest (We’re not talking Dr. Who here) order. Throughout his eponymous debut’s 10-track running order, influences like Les Rallizes Denudes and Chrome are apparent, however, they’re never pervasive, instead, they seamlessly melt into the backdrop of his acid-fried visions of a future tomorrow. So, if heady psych trips and narco-pop daymares are your cup of tea, then make sure you prop yourself up in your egg chair with, well, whatever helps enhance your listening pleasure, and drop out with the Montoyan Artisan Connection.
